The cradle of French culture in America, the city of Québec, founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, is one of the oldest cities on the continent. Its site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the perfect place to celebrate its history, especially since it was the colonial capital of New France. The Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France is a way to completely immerse yourself in the era where soldiers stood guard on the fortification ramparts. We want to celebrate the historical period when Québec had an critical role to play in the building of America. Through cultural activities, festive events and gourmet discoveries, you will step right into daily life as it was in the colony of New France.

Participate in more than 400 activities over 5 days

Going full steam from August 3rd to 7th 2016, the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France will have you participate in more than 400 activities! Savour traditional grilling of meat and fish at the Barbecue d’Antan or attend blacksmith demonstrations by young apprentice blacksmiths. Take a trip back in time over the last 300 years with a unique trip into the world of the “coureurs des bois”.

The site of festivities is found in the nerve center of Old-Québec, near the Québec terminal, hotels and restaurants. The best way to access the festival site, is to take the Québec coach that will drop you off only steps from the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France. You can also get there by car and use pay parking lots, but be forewarned, parking spots are limited.
